Throughout the day, your face “tenses” more than you think: furrowing your brows when concentrating, clenching your jaw when stressed, squinting at the screen. These accumulated tensions over time deepen wrinkles and make your face look tired. Just 5 minutes of Face Yoga relaxation before sleep helps release all the tightness, soothe the skin, and even supports better sleep — and deep sleep is the best “skin nourishment.”
Why should you relax your facial muscles in the evening?
- Relieve accumulated muscle tension: relaxing the forehead, brows, and jaw helps soothe and prevent stress-related wrinkles.
- Stimulate circulation & drainage: helps the skin look rosy, reduces puffiness, and better absorbs nutrients at night.
- Support sleep: combining deep breathing helps relax the nervous system, making it easier to fall asleep — and getting enough sleep helps the skin regenerate and produce collagen.

5-Minute Relaxation Routine Before Sleep
Wash your face thoroughly, apply serum/night cream. Sit or lie comfortably, breathing slowly and deeply throughout the session.
Minute 1 — Breathe & Warm Your Hands
Rub your palms together to warm them, gently press them on your face, close your eyes, and take deep breaths for 3–5 counts. Feel your entire face “soften.”
Minute 2 — Relax the Forehead & Between the Brows
Place your fingers on your forehead, gently stroke from the center out to the temples. Then use your fingers to make small circular motions on the point between your brows — where tension accumulates. Do this for 30–40 seconds.

Minute 3 — Massage the Temples & Around the Eyes
Gently circle your temples, then use your ring finger to lightly tap around the eye sockets (inner corner → outer corner). This helps reduce tension and soothe tired eye areas.
Minute 4 — Drainage Stroke for the Face & Neck
Using your fingertip, gently stroke from the center of your face outwards and down to your neck (following the lymphatic pathway) to “release” trapped fluid, reducing puffiness for the next morning.
Minute 5 — Relax the Jaw
Many people unconsciously clench their jaws while sleeping. Gently massage the jaw muscles (on both sides of the jawline) and slightly open your mouth to relax the jaw for 20–30 seconds. Finish with a few deep breaths.

Tips for a “Skin-Glowing” Sleep
- Sleep on your back if possible — sleeping face down on the pillow for long periods can easily create wrinkles.
- Silk/satin pillowcases reduce friction on the skin and hair.
- Moisturize at night — the skin regenerates strongly while you sleep.
- Avoid screens close to bedtime for deeper sleep.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is evening practice as beneficial as morning practice?
Each session has its own benefits: morning helps reduce puffiness and brighten; evening helps relax muscles, prevent stress-related wrinkles, and support sleep. Ideally, both are practiced.
Do I need to wash my face again after practicing?
No — it’s best to practice after washing your face and applying moisturizer, so your hands glide smoothly and the skin absorbs nutrients better.
Does evening massage cause puffiness the next morning?
On the contrary — proper drainage strokes help “release water,” often resulting in less puffiness in the morning.
